!	Procedures as Following

You must secure a date and time for classroom training by calling _(210) 849-3341

- An application packet for a New Applicant will be supplied by the instructor at the time you take the course.

-And application packet for a Renewal can be obtained by contacting the DPS Concealed Handgun Unit in Austin at 800-224-5744 or online CHL@TXDPS.State.Tx.US renewal packets can only come from Austin.

-You will need to have a valid Texas Drivers License or a valid Texas State ID Card. You will need to have a valid Social Security Number.

-If you have any criminal history, including Juvenile History, that will Not disqualify you, you must obtain a certified copy of the judgment and sentence from the courts to include in your application packet.

-If your place of birth is outside the United States, it will be necessary to submit One of the following with your application packet.

1. The Alien Number or copy of your Certificate of Citizenship or Certificate of Naturalization.

2. A Copy of your resident Allen Card or

3. A Copy of your United States Passport.

-If you are applying as an indigent (income at or below poverty guidelines) you must include a copy of your most recent income tax return with your application packet.

-After taking and passing the required training, you will send in all paperwork and the required fee for your 4 year license to the DPS and within 60 Days for a new license or 45 Days for a renewal license to obtain your Texas Concealed Handgun License.

$140. For No Special Conditions

$70. For Indigent Status

$70. For Seniors (60 Years Old or Older)

- License Fees must be in the for of:

• Money Order

• Cashiers Check

• Government Check

-No Personal checks or cash will be accepted for your license fee payment.

-Make License Fee payable to: Texas Department of Public Safety

-We recommend photocopies of all documents in your application packet for your own records in case Austin DPS or the postal system misplaces your packet. Send only the original documents to DPS, Do Not send photocopies.

-NOTE: After completing the class and training, you have up to 2 years to send the completed application packet and fee to DPS. If you wait longer than 2 years, you must pay for and take the entire course again to obtain you license.
